- Every visitor is required to wear an identification badge when on a patient care unit. Badges may be obtained from the Main or East Information Desk.
- General visiting hours are from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
- There is a limit of two visitors per patient from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
- Visitors entering the facility after 11:00 p.m. are required to sign in at the Main Information Desk in the Bed Tower.
- Children under the age of six years are not permitted to visit unless requested by the patient and/or immediate family member.
- Details about visiting patients in special care units, including Obstetric, Third East, Outpatient Surgery Center, Intensive or Intermediate Care and the Southeastern Heart Center may be obtained from the special care unit.
- If you wish to limit your visitors in any way, please notify your nurse, patient representative, or the Main Information Desk.
Tobacco-free policy: On April 15, 2008, Southeastern and its affiliates became tobacco-free campuses. This means that no one may use tobacco products inside any buildings or on the grounds of the medical center of any of its owned or leased properties.
Food and beverages: The West 27th Street Café, located on the first floor of the West Building, serves a varied menu of food and beverages 24 hours a day for the convenience of our visitors and staff.
Drinks, including coffee, and packaged snacks are available in the Gift Shop located in the Main Lobby. See the Gift Shop listing for hours of operation.
Gift shop: The Yellow Jacket Gift Shop is located in the Main Lobby and offers a variety of gifts, cards, flowers, and personal items along with coffee, drinks, and snacks for patients, visitors, and staff. It is open during these hours:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Sunday, 1:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Guest trays and meals:
As a visitor, you may have a meal served in your family member’s room if a ticket is purchased from the cashier window on the first floor at least 1 ½ hours before the meal is to be served: at 10:00 a.m. for lunch, 3:00 p.m. for dinner, or before 4:00 p.m. for breakfast the next morning.
Parking: Free visitor parking is available in the parking deck on the east side of the Medical Center and in the lot on 28th Street.
Newspapers: Daily newspapers are available on the first floor near the B elevators and in the Gift Shop.
Mail: Mail addressed to you will be delivered each weekday by one of our volunteers. Outgoing mail is picked up each afternoon at the Main Information Desk.
Pastoral care: The Pastoral Care department provides someone trained to listen and offer counsel to those experiencing spiritual crisis and emotional distress. The chaplain, along with volunteer local clergy, serves the patients, families, staff, and others by being available to assist as a spiritual caregiver in these times. To obtain further information and assistance, please contact Pastoral Care at (910) 671-5031 or in-house Ext. 5031.
Chapel: A multi-faith chapel is located in the first-floor lobby of the Patient Bed Tower. The chapel is open 24 hours a day, providing a space for patients, families, staff, and others to come for worship, prayer, and reflection. Special attention has been given to religious symbols displayed. Worship and meditation materials are available to assist in personal devotion and worship.
Patient library: Leisure reading materials are available for your enjoyment. Ask your nurse or patient representative. Several times each week, volunteers bring the library cart to the patient floors. You are welcome to select magazines or books at this time also.
Consumer health information: Information about your illness as well as information to help you stay well is available to all patients and their families in the Information Resource Center (Medical Library), located on the first floor near the Assembly Room. A librarian is on duty to assist you during the Center’s hours, Monday–Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. This information is provided free of charge. Ask your nurse or call the librarian for assistance.
